DCC - Basics

     Getting started with a few good basic principles will greatly improve the performance and enjoyment of any model railroad. With DCC, a well-built foundation of good trackwork, proper ( but simple ) wiring and general, neat construction techniques will lead you to many hours of enjoyment. Not only can the completed layout be enjoyable to run, but, the building process can provide a sense of accomplishment and enjoyment in itself!

     Highly recommended is the book Introduction to DCC by Lionel Strang. Not only is it complete in getting you started and even beyond, but it also has an easily readable text and has many excellent photos. If you were at our shop counter right now, we would be showing you our favorite part of the book. We hold it up, turn it so you are looking at the edge, and show you how thin this book is! You won't have to be reading long before you feel much more comfortable with digital!
